One Sky

2010 by Yvonne Lee Schultz

The project is of a unifying and peaceful spirit towards the world:

Children around the world are invited to take a photo of their view in the sky.                                     They are 6 to 12 years old and are choosing their favorite sky for the pictures.

The children are presenting themselves with a portrait, by singing a song and filling in a questionnaire in which they say what they are thinking when they are looking at the sky.

Their answers are interesting and diverting to read. It is about what they would like to change, where they would like to be and why, who is important for them and who, from their perspective, is the most important person in the world. Which, besides, must not be the same person they would like to meet.

192 children of the 192 countries are asked for their participation. Sadly enough it is not easy to contact a child in all places in the world because of political, social or humanitarian problems.  To have a camera or internet access is not a standard.

Some of the pictures of One Sky are displayed at this website. The single pictures from the different countries are unified and start creating the all embracing sky mosaic.

The participation of  children of all 192 nations and their pictures of the sky above each UN member state is one part of the art project. Furthermore the project One Sky/ Skyflags of the Nations is presented to the UN for the next part.
